Today marks my four year anniversary at my 9-5 (let’s be real – 7:30-5:30) corporate job. I remember when I first started as a bright-eyed, enthusiastic postgrad, I was more than ready to have a real job and a real adult paycheck. Honestly though, I figured I would only be there a year before finding what I truly love and moving on. Well, four years later and I’m at the same company, with marginal success, and still little to no idea about what I actually want to do with my life. The whole scenario is a bit… deflating.
Enter the art of the side hustle! The idea behind the side hustle is finding your passion, outside of your full time gig, and working hard enough so that it one day turns into a career you truly adore.
Granted, if you’re anything like me you have no idea how to turn an occasional hobby into a money-making powerhouse of a career. If that is the case, I hope you’ll follow along with me on this blog as I try to figure out what I love, what I’m good at, what could actually provide some income, and (hopefully – fingers crossed!) find the sweet spot that combines all three. There are sure to be some spectacular failures for those of you who enjoy a bit of schadenfreude and with any luck a few triumphs for those who like an underdog story. Wish me luck!
